Municipality Intensifies Efforts, Works Even Saturdays to Promptly Restore City Road Riding Quality
The Municipal Council of Manzini is committed to promptly restoring the quality of city roads affected by the recent torrential rains. In response to the damage caused, the Municipality has been working tirelessly, including on Saturdays, over the past three weeks to address the most impacted roads. This ongoing effort is an indication of the Municipality’s dedication to ensuring that the city’s roads return to a safe and passable condition as quickly as possible. Whilst many of the most severely affected roads, particularly in areas such as Ngwane Park, Trelawney Park and Fairview, have already been repaired, attention is now being focused on roads with less significant damage. The Municipality appreciates the patience of residents and stakeholders as repairs continue across the city. If a road has not yet been repaired, it likely means it was not severely affected by the rains as compared to others. However, the Municipality assures that all affected roads in the city will eventually be attended to soon. The Municipality appeals for patience and further advises citizens to continue driving with caution; particularly on roads that may still exhibit residual damage.
In addition to road repairs, the Municipality is aware of the significant vegetation overgrowth along road reserves, cemeteries and other public open spaces due to the recent incessant rainfall. The primary focus at present is on clearing overgrowth along main roads and key intersections, with plans to address other affected areas soon thereafter.
For urgent municipal service requirements or to report service faults, residents are encouraged to continue contacting the Municipality through her 24/7 call centre (800 2004/2505 7000) or via her official WhatsApp lines (7808 2333/7908 2333). The Municipality remains committed to maintaining a clean, safe and accessible city for all citizens.
