Mayor Wishes Manzini Citizens Safe Crossover, Successful Year 2022
His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Quinton Els, wishes all Manzini citizens a safe crossover and a prosperous year 2022.
“On behalf of Council, management and staff of the Municipal Council of Manzini I would like to express our most sincere appreciation to the citizens of our city for their unquestionable patriotism to the city and relentless support to Council. The service delivery feedback and suggestions for improvement that we receive from citizens through our numerous customer feedback mechanisms and stakeholder engagement platforms bear testimony of the love that citizens of Manzini have for their city. That is really commended and always encourages us as Council to roll up our sleeves and work even harder. A special word of appreciation goes to His Majesty’s Government, in particular the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, for its continued support and advice throughout the year”, said the Mayor.
He expressed hope that citizens had an exciting Christmas and further wished them a safe crossover to the new year.
“May we all safely crossover to the year 2022 and may the new year be a successful one for all our stakeholders. Furthermore, may we all continue to observe the Covid-19 prevention protocols as advised by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation. May I further encourage those who have not yet taken the Covid-19 vaccine to do so, so that we finally achieve herd immunity and possibly get back to our normal lives”, the Mayor continued.
He reiterated Council’s commitment to the delivery of quality services even in the new year.
“I would like to assure citizens of our fast developing city that as Council we remain committed to delivery of the recently reviewed Integrated Development Plan (IDP). We have seen a number of capital projects taking off in our city during the year 2021. We are committed to seeing them through to completion. As per the IDP, citizens can expect a number of other capital projects to commence in the year 2022. We trust that all these developments will help improve the quality of life for all citizens”, the Mayor added.
The Mayor concluded with a special message to property owners.
“I would like to end my brief message by appreciating the property owners of Manzini. The fact that about 80% of the Municipality’s revenue comes from them means they are the lifeblood of the city. As Council we truly appreciate their continued payment of rates despite all odds. We also appreciate them for their effort towards development of their properties. Since the beginning of 2021 the Municipality has approved multi-millions worth of building applications, both commercial and residential. That is really appreciated as it adds the desired value to our city. May I also add that as a Municipality we remain open to partnerships with our stakeholders. Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) have the potential to inspire exponential growth of our city in many perspectives”, the Mayor stated.
