Manzini Vendor Makes A Killing at Waterford’s 60th
A Manzini Main Market handicraft trader who was assisted by the Municipal Council of Manzini to showcase and sell her wares during Waterford KaMhlaba’s 60th anniversary celebration last Saturday is ecstatic about the level of support she recieved from the college’s students and guests. The trader, Ncamsile Dlamini, had displayed a variety of wares including bracelets, earings, emagcebesha and many other handicraft products. “The income I made in that event is equivalent to what I would ordinarily make in four days when sitting at the Market. I’m so grateful to my Municipality and Waterford KaMhlaba for the opportunity”, she said. Most importantly, there is a lesson she learnt from the experience.
“If I had a speedpoint I would have made far more than I did. I learnt that most students do not carry cash. They kept on asking if I had a speedpoint so they could pay by swiping. This was an eye-opener for me. I will share this experience with other informal traders. It’s time we moved with the times and embraced technology; failing which we will miss great opportunities”, she stated.
