…Approximately 1,500 bikers to descent Manzini city early next month
The Municipal Council of Manzini has entered into a partnership with the Hyena Motorcycle Club (MCC) towards hosting the annual Impisi Rally at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre. Scheduled to run from the 3rd to the 5th May 2024, the event promises not only to be a thriller to motorcycle enthusiasts but also a significant economic booster for the City of Manzini. The Municipality encourages tourism-related activities in the city as part of its strategic drive towards citizen socio-economic upliftment. Between 1,000 to 1,500 bikers from across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region are expected to descent the city to participate in the rally. With diverse motorcycle clubs converging in the city, the rally will inject vitality into the local hospitality industry; breathing life into food establishments, accommodation facilities and other economic sectors across the city. Motorcycle enthusiasts and the general members of the public who wish to be a part of the rally can access tickets through Smart Ticketing online ticket platform or purchase them at the entrance to the venue. The Hyena Motorcycle Club, a non-profit organization, is based in Ngwane Park township within the City of Manzini.
…YOUTH EMPOWERMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT RALLY
In a move aimed at fostering youth empowerment, the Municipal Council of Manzini has entered into an agreement with organizers of the renowned Impisi Rally, the Hyena Motor Cycle Club, towards socio-economic upliftment of Manzini city youths in a number of perspectives. The agreement ensures that the youths from the City of Manzini will directly reap the benefits of the annual event through income generating opportunities in the form of vending, selling of segregated waste and rendering entertainment activities. Arrangements have been made to allocate a number of vending stalls specifically for the youth at the venue. Members of the public are encouraged to support the youth by visiting the stalls and buying items that will be on display. Additionally, the youth will engage in waste segregation in the event. Throughout the event, they will be picking up waste, segregate it and sell that which is recyclable to the Municipal Buy Back Centre. This initiative not only promotes environmental consciousness but also presents the opportunity for the youth to generate income. Moreover, the Municipality has successfully made arrangements for Manzini-based upcoming artists to showcase their talent at the event. Four Manzini-based youth disc jockeys (DJs), male and female, and a comedian have been selected to spice up the event through their artistic talents. This initiative contributes to the growth of the creative industry. Through these initiatives, the City of Manzini continues to position itself as the hub of opportunity, innovation and inclusivity.
…RALLY PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN
In a collaborative effort to foster community welfare, the Hyena Motor Cycle Club, which has partnered with the Municipal Council of Manzini towards the 2024 annual Impisi Rally, has made an undertaking to commit a portion of proceeds from the event to support one of the city’s social centres. The Municipality manages eight social centres across the city, with assistance from partners. The social centres play a vital role in the lives of over 1,500 underprivileged children through the provision of one meal per day as well as early childhood education. Common needs identified in the social centres are provision of consistent balanced meals, firewood for cooking purposes as well as cleaning material. The Municipality is grateful to companies, churches and individuals that have in the past supported the sustenance of the social centre initiative through donations. More companies and other stakeholders are encouraged to do same as part of their social responsibility initiatives.
