Another Shopping Complex Development Project Launched in Manzini!
The Minister of Housing & Urban Development, HRH Prince Simelane, facilitates the sod-cutting for the construction of the Fairview shopping complex.
The citizens of Manzini have yet another exciting project to look forward to and benefit from. The Honourable Minister for Housing & Urban Development, HRH Prince Simelane officially launched the Fairview Mixed-Use Commercial Centre Development project for construction on the 21st July 2023. The project is located in Fairview South within Ward-3 which was explained to be a mixed-use commercial centre boasting of various shopping facilities and other key amenities within close proximity to the people of Fairview and surrounding. This development is anticipated to create 750 job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, as well as grow MSMEs and big businesses in the city.
This massive investment in the city is a strategic response to the ever-increasing demand for services offered by establishments in the city. This demand has proven a major contributing factor towards the increased vehicular volumes and subsequent traffic congestion on the roads within the Central Business District (CBD). In addressing this challenge, the municipality resolved to distribute economic activities away from the CBD towards the townships. With this exercise exceeding the municipality’s fiscal capacity, a strategic decision was taken by Council to explore the Public Private Partnership (PPP) approach with an aim to collaborate with the private sector to address infrastructure needs in the city. Through the PPP model, the municipality seeks to develop the Fairview Mixed-Use Commercial Centre in partnership with Inyatsi Holdings, as well as MA Properties. This project is in alignment with the municipality strategy and the Local Economic Development (LED) programme, which seeks to broaden Council revenue base while also stimulating the city’s economic growth to benefit local people and its citizens.
