Manzini Municipality Wishes Citizens A Merry Christmas, Safe Festive
…Citizens urged to double their effort in suppressing the 2nd wave of Covid-19
The Municipal Council of Manzini takes this opportunity to wish all Manzini citizens and other stakeholders a merry Christmas and a safe festive season.
The Municipality values the support that it continues to receive from its stakeholders and trusts that the good relations will carry on even in the new year. The year 2020 was not a normal year for the City of Manzini; particularly because of the Covid-19 pandemic which disrupted the organization’s annual plans. However, the Municipality is grateful to all citizens for continuing to afford it the desired cooperation and support notwithstanding the prevailing circumstances. The Municipality would like to thank all stakeholders, including the national Government, for the support rendered during the challenging period.
Following reports that the second wave of Covid-19 has hit the country, Council pleads with all citizens to double their efforts in suppressing the spread of the virus. Citizens are implored to continue practicing all Covid-19 safety precautions even during the festive holidays. These include wearing of face masks at all times, frequent washing of hands using soap and running water, use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer, maintaining at least a one metre physical distance from the next person as well as avoiding crowds. It is also important that safety of property is ensured during this period.
Those who will be departing the city for their various destinations during the festive season are urged to ensure they put in place all necessary safety precautions to ensure their properties are protected whilst away. If possible, they are implored to make arrangements for someone to stay behind and keep guard of their properties. The Municipality further encourages those that will be doing their Christmas and crossover shopping to apply caution; ensuring that they do not buy expired food stuffs no matter the price discount. Food stuffs that have damaged packaging, have no visible expiry date, no label that bears detail about the content, cans that are dented, swollen or rusty are not to be bought. Citizens are encouraged to contact the Municipality through its 24/7 Call Centre (800 2004/2505 7000) if they happen to come across such food items on the shelves. The Municipality has sensitized the business sector about acceptable health and hygiene practices.
…COUNCIL TAKES FESTIVE BREAK BUT ESSENTIAL SERVICES TO BE AVAILABLE
Stakeholders and the general members of the public are notified that the Municipal Council of Manzini has closed for the festive season. The Municipality closed on Monday 21st December 2020 and will resume full business on Tuesday 5th January 2021. However, essential services such as waste collection, health inspections, burial services, pound services filter clinic and Rates Hall services will be provided during normal office hours. The Municipality’s 24/7 Call Centre (800 2004/2505 7000) will also be operational for purposes of reporting municipal service faults, road maintenance, noise, stray animals, burning of waste and other service delivery issues. The Municipality’s “Manzini News” Facebook platform may also be utilized as an alternative. Council is confident that citizens’ service delivery needs will still be met even during the period of closure.

…66 VOLUNTEERS GET CHRISTMAS GOODIES, SHOPPING VOUCHERS FROM COUNCIL
A total of 66 community members who perform various forms of voluntary work in the City of Manzini last week received Christmas goodies and shopping vouchers from the Municipal Council of Manzini.
